Big Ideas ~ Real Impact

Ministry of Christian Action

The goal of the Ministry of Christian Action is to offer opportunities for our church to participate in various projects and events that can reach those in our community, across the country and throughout the world.  One of the many ways that our church does this is by providing meals for the St. Vincent de Paul and Street Fire Ministries as well as monthly food collections for the Portland and Middletown Food Pantries.

Other outreach ministries include:

“Personal Hygiene Kits” where adults and children get together to assemble kits that are sent both locally and worldwide to provide personal supplies to people.

“The Giving Tree” in December invites people in our congregation to bring Christmas JOY to people by fulfilling a gift wish.

“Dress A Girl” is part of a larger organization that sews simple dresses that are sent around the world to provide HOPE and dignity to young girls.

“God’s Work ~ Our Hands” is a favorite outreach for our congregation. Annually we take a Sunday in the spring and instead of worshipping in our sanctuary, we go out to be God’s hands in the community by doing yard work, singing at nursing homes, delivering flowers to shut ins, collecting pet supplies for shelters, sewing dresses and ending then ending with a time for lunch and fellowship!

Our church regularly contributes a portion of our pledges and donations to help other organizations such as the Jonah Center, Gilead Services, Hope After Loss and Connecticut Food Share, just to name a few.

We would LOVE to have you join us!  Please contact the church office for more information. If you would like to make a monetary donation to our mission work, a check or Venmo can be sent to the church with “Missions” as a notation.
